What happens when food delivery is everywhere?
Nowadays, it has become a
trend for restaurants to have the
food delivery service.
Furthermore, compared with the
past society, we can easily tell
that there are more and more
delivery people in pink like
FoodPanda riding their
motorcycles or even the bicycles
on the road. Due to the fact that
consumers want convenience in
all aspects of their lives,
including dining, we could see a
lot of problems that are result
from the food delivery industry.
We can try to recall the situation that when we are dining in a restaurant, we will see lots of delivery persons go into the restaurant. As soon as they talked to the clerk with some particular numbers, they can get the foods and go away instantly. I believe this experience is not strange for every one of us because of the rise of the food delivery industry recently. Since the wide use of these platforms by the public, some effects may appear in the society whether it is visible or invisible. For this reason, in the following paragraph, we’re going to look at three effects, both positive and negative.
In terms of its advantage, due to this food delivery service, consumers can eliminate some restaurants which are unsuitable to visit and to maintain the quality of the restaurants. Similarly, thanks to the convenience of this service, whenever we are starving, we can always get food easily through cellphones. For instance, no matter it is midnight or dawn, as long as we have the food delivery app in our cellphones, we can place an order on the app and to get the food we want soon after. In addition, once we open the app on the cellphone, we can get the information of the restaurants including their opening time, menu, and their reviews on this platform. However, how can we decide whether we should place an order in this restaurant or not? What we can do is to take the restaurant’s reviews as reference, and to make the decision. As a result, the reviews of restaurants can help us to make good decisions. That means, we can eliminate some restaurants which have poor performance on their food or service indirectly. By this way, we can maintain the quality of the restaurant on the platform.
In contrast, this trend will increase some complaints about the customer system. For instance, more and more people are complaining about the customer service system of this platform. Because most of the people is using the credit card when there is a need to pay money. Consequently, it is hard to deal with if there is any problem showing up. For example, the problems might involve the non-arrival of the orders or the finance disputes between
the platform and consumer.
From the problems mentioned
above, they’re hard to be solved
for the customer service system.
Therefore, this situation will lead
to a great deal of issues and
complaints from the consumers.
Furthermore, as the delivery
person always wants to deliver
the food and also to arrives at
the destination as soon as possible; obviously, we can notice that these behaviors will result in lots of traffic problems. Moreover, these behaviors may include their speeding, running the red lights, and illegal parking. All of these actions from the delivery person are doing harm to this society nowadays. For example, the pedestrians may feel a sense of fear and anxiety when they are walking on the road worrying about that whether there will be accidents occurring around them unexpectedly. For this reason, we can easily tell that the food delivery industry does cause damage to the safety of this society as well as the public.
In summary, these effects of food delivery may have the advantage such as maintaining the quality of restaurants; however, this phenomenon still brings some problems to the society like creating some consumer disputes, and causing traffic problems. Although we knew that it is convenient and helpful to use the platform of food delivery, there are still some problems needed to be solved at present.
